What are Bonnet IDs?
Bonnet IDs are the one, two, or three-letter codes located on the bonnet of most New South Wales Police vehicles. The code refers to the Local Area Command, the police station, or the divison the vehicle is based at. When combined with the vehicle's numerical identifier on the roof, it allows the police Air Wing to easily determine a vehicle's callsign from the air. In the past few years, the Bonnet IDs and roof numbers have been replicated on the rear and sides of vehicles.
